Mullen Tabbed Golfer of the Week
Sophomore Monte Mullen was honored by the NEC this week.
The Northeast Conference announced Central Connecticut sophomore Monte Mullen as Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. Mullen earned the weekly conference award for his performance at the Lafayette Spring Invitational.
The sophomore recorded his third top-ten finish of the 2012-13 season after finishing second out of 109 competitors. After the first round, the second year Blue Devil stood in fourth place individually with a two-over par 74, followed by a two-under par 70 on Monday to vault him into second place. He finished just one stroke back of the tournament's champion.
Mullen leads the team in top-ten finishes with three as well as scoring average with a 74.9 average. He holds the lowest round score of the season shooting a 66 at the Yale/Macdonald Cup.
Mullen is the first Blue Devils to earn a weekly NEC award this season. Central will be back in action on April 13th at the New England Championships. The Blue Devils have won the New England Championship back-to-back years in 2011 and 2012.
