Central 4th After Day One at Turning Stone
Monte Mullen and Matthew DeJohn led Central in the tournament's opening round.
The Central Connecticut men's golf team concluded their opening day of the 2012 season in 4th place at the Fourth Annual Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate. Host Missouri (276/283/559) leads the field followed by Louisville (285/283/568), Memphis (290/287/577). Central (297/287/584) sits in fourth place ahead of IPFW (296/297/593), Villanova (298/296/594), Army (301/295/596), and Celveland State (305/293/598).
Sophomore Monte Mullen (74/71/145) headed the Blue Devils on day one and sits in 12th place on the individual leader board. Senior Matthew DeJohn (73/72/145) is tied with teammate Mullen in the 12 spot. Mullen and DeJohn are just 13 shots back of the tournament's individual leader.
Also placing in the top-25 for the Blue Devils after the first two rounds was senior Dan Fanion (76/71/147). Senior Greg Beloin (74/80/154) is tied for 45th place and freshman Conor Murphy (87/73/160) sits in a 59th place tie individually after his first two rounds as a Blue Devil.
The third and final round of the tournament is set for Monday, September 3rd with golfers teeing off at 8 a.m.
