Central T9th at UCONN, One Day Remains
Dan Fanion led CCSU in the first two rounds with a 70 and 77.
The Central Connecticut men's golf team is in a tie for ninth place after the first and second round of the Connecticut Cup. The Blue Devils reached 300 total strokes after the first half of the day and followed with 304 strokes after round two totaling 604 strokes. In-state rival Hartford leads the tournament with a score of 591.
The first two rounds of the tournament wrapped up on Monday with the third and final 18 concluding the tournament on Tuesday.
Senior captain Dan Fanion is currently tied for 13th place after being as high as second in the first round. Fanion shot a 70 in the tournament's opening round and followed that with a 77 tallying a two-round score of 147. He is only six strokes behind the leader Dylan Newman of Iona.
After writing in back-to-back scores of 75, senior Greg Beloin is tied for 26th place with 150 strokes. Sophomore Monte Mullen rebounded in the second round with a 74 after a round one 78. He accumulated 152 strokes and is tied for 41st place.
Senior Matthew DeJohn is tied for 67th place after scoring a 156 and sophomore Kevin Jud tallied 157 strokes and is tied for 73rd.
Central is tied with Post and is one stroke ahead of 11th place Adelphi. The Blue Devils trail Northeast Conference rival LIU-Brooklyn by five strokes.
The third and final round of the UCONN Connecticut Cup will take place tomorrow, October 9th at the Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, CT.
