Hollomon Earns NEC Offensive Player of the Week
Junior Rob Hollomon was named NEC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Central Connecticut junior Rob Hollomon was named the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. The announcement was part of the conference's weekly football release.
Hollomon posted 253 all-purpose yards for the Blue Devils in a thrilling 51-44 double overtime loss to #19/23 Lehigh on Saturday afternoon. Hollomon totaled 160 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He also hauled in four passes for 69 yards.
His 44-yard catch and run, on a screen pass, on CCSU's opening drive set the offensive tone for the Blue Devils in the game. The play moved CCSU inside the Lehigh five yard line and two plays later Hollomon plunged into the end zone for his and his team's first touchdown of the game.
Hollomon added touchdown runs of 17 and 13 yards in the third quarter with his third score of the game giving CCSU a 34-17 lead with 7:06 left in the third quarter.
He rushed 35 times for 160 yards in the game and averaged 4.6 yards per rush.
As always, Hollomon was a big play threat in the game as he posted a 44 yard reception, a 35 yard rush and a 24 yard kickoff return.
Hollomon's three touchdowns matched his career-high.
On Sunday evening, the CFPA named Hollomon as an honorable mention for their National All-Purpose Performer of the Week award.
