Hollomon Named Preseason All-America
Junior Rob Hollomon was named to The Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America Team.
Central Connecticut junior Rob Hollomon has been named to The Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America Team. Hollomon, who is a running back and kick/punt returner for the Blue Devils, earned a place on the third team offense as an all-purpose player. Hollomon is one of 98 student-athletes in the prestigious group that features players representing 59 teams and all 13 FCS conferences.

Hollomon, Duquesne's Dorian Bell and Bryant's Jordan Brown are the only Northeast Conference players to be named to the team. Bell is a first team selection at linebacker and Brown a second team pick at running back.
As a sophomore, in his first season with the Blue Devils, Hollomon totaled 1,710 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns, including 1,104 yards and five touchdowns rushing. His yardage total is the sixth highest in program history and he is just the ninth Blue Devil to reach the milestone in a season. He averaged 5.2 yards per rush and 110 rushing yards per game.
Hollomon boosted his all-purpose yards by catching 21 passes for 231 yards, returning 15 kicks for 336 yards and five punts for 36 yards.
On October 20, against Robert Morris, Hollomon totaled 377 all-purpose yards (208 rushing, 56 receiving, 113 return) to set CCSU's Division I program record. Hollomon's 96-yard kickoff return for touchdown was a single yard shy of the NEC's all-time record for longest kick return.
Hollomon followed up his special game against Robert Morris by posting 307 all-purpose yards against Saint Francis U the following week. In that game, Hollomon rushed for 207 yards and three scores. He also had 80 receiving yards and 20 return yards.
Over the final five games of the season, Hollomon posted 100+ rushing yards and 200+ all-purpose yards in each contest. During that stretch he went over 200 yards rushing and 300 all-purpose yards twice. For the season, Hollomon averaged 171 all-purpose yards per game.
Hollomon earned a pair of NEC and national weekly awards during the 2012 season. He was named NEC Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 22, and NEC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 29. The College Football Performance Awards named Hollomon National Kick Returner of the Week on Oct. 24, and The Sports Network named him National Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 29.
Hollomon and the Blue Devils will open the 2013 season on Saturday, August 31, at James Madison University.
