Blue Devils Announce 2016 Baseball Schedule
CCSU will play a 56-game schedule, including 21 games at home.
Central Connecticut baseball head coach Charlie Hickey announced the squad's schedule for the 2016 season. The Blue Devils will play 56 regular-season games, including 21 home games at CCSU Baseball Field in New Britain, CT.
Central will open the season with a three-game series against St. Bonaventure in Port Charlotte, FL. The series will open on Friday, Feb. 26., with single games to follow on Saturday and Sunday.
The Blue Devils will play three games at Navy (March 4-6) before returning home to host Hartford on March 9 in the squad's home-opener. CCSU will then head south again to play Evansville and Liberty in four games over a three-day span. The Blue Devils will play Evansville and then Liberty in Lynchburg, VA, on March 11. Central will play Evansville again on Saturday, March 12, and then Liberty on Sunday, March 13, before returning home to host Albany in a mid-week game on March 15.
Central will open its Northeast Conference slate against Bryant for a four-game series on March 18-20. The Blue Devils split four games with the Bulldogs in 2015. The NEC weekend series' will follow the same format as previous seasons, with a single nine-inning game to open the series, a pair of seven-inning games on the second day and another nine-inning contest to close the series out.
After opening conference play, CCSU will play at Connecticut on March 23 and have a home and away game against Iona on March 25 and 26. The Blue Devils will then play at Rhode Island on March 29 before heading back into NEC play.
CCSU will begin the bulk of its conference slate with a four-game series at Wagner (April 1-3). The Blue Devils will host Mount St. Mary's (April 8-10), LIU Brooklyn (April 22-24) and Wagner (May 19-21). Central will play its road conference series' at Sacred Heart (April 15-17), Fairleigh Dickinson (May 6-8) and Bryant (May 13-15).
The Blue Devils will have single non-conference games at home against Quinnipiac (April 6) and Siena (April 19), while also playing contests at Massachusetts (April 12), Albany (April 26), Northeastern (April 29, 30), Quinnipiac (May 3) and Hartford (May 17).
The Northeast Conference tournament returns to Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT, from May 26-28.
