Hinckley Named to All-ECAC Second Team
One of five Northeast Conference student-athletes selected.
Junior Andrew Hinckley of the Central Connecticut baseball team was named to the All-ECAC Division I Baseball Second Team it was announced by the Eastern College Athletic Conference on Tuesday. A right-handed pitcher, Hinckley posted eight wins on the mound to pace the Blue Devils this season.
In his first campaign with the Blue Devils, Hinckley posted an 8-4 record with 58 strikeouts in 79.2 innings to lead the team. He posted a 3.73 earned run average and hurled an NEC-best seven complete games and ranked second on the circuit with two shutouts. Additionally, he held opposing hitters to a .264 batting average and ranked among the league leaders in six pitching categories. Hinckley added two saves and his eight wins were one off matching the program's single-season mark.
He had a shutout streak of 20.2 innings over four games during the season. Hinckley posted back-to-back complete-game shutouts against Wagner and Mount St. Mary's when he allowed just 11 hits over 14 innings of work. He closed out the regular-season by winning his final four decisions, including a 3-1 win over LIU Brooklyn on April 23 when allowed just two hits and gave up one unearned run, while striking out a career-high eight batters.
Hinckley earned First Team All-Northeast Conference honors as a pitcher and was also recently named to the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Top 18 Watch List. At the plate, Hinckley batted .283 with three home runs, 17 runs batted in and 15 runs scored for CCSU.
Central qualified for the Northeast Conference championship after closing the season with a three-game win streak to claim the fourth and final berth to the league tournament.
