Lockery Named All-New England Baseball Third Team
Blue Devils face Bryant in NEC Tournament on Thursday.
Sophomore Dean Lockery of the Central Connecticut baseball team was named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Division I All-New England Third Team it was announced on Wednesday. Lockery and the Blue Devils open play in the Northeast Conference Tournament on Thursday against Bryant.
Lockery started all 55 games and led Central with a .348 batting average in all games, which ranked sixth in the Northeast Conference. He also posted team-best totals for hits (70), walks (28), and on base percentage (.429) which were among the leaders in the NEC. He added 32 runs scored which led the Blue Devils to go with 21 runs batted in and nine extra-base hits. He was the only Blue Devil to start all 55 games this season and has started all 103 games of his career over the past two seasons.
The Northeast Conference Tournament begins play on Thursday at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, CT. CCSU will face top-seeded Bryant in the tourney opener at 12:00 p.m. Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson will play in the day's other game. The league will announce its all-conference honorees at the pre-championship awards banquet on Wednesday night.
