Jennings Named to PGCBL All-Star Game
Blue Devils having strong summer baseball seasons.
Franklin Jennings of the Central Connecticut baseball team was named to the 2016 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game it was announced by the league. The game will take place on Wednesday, July 20, in Albany, NY. Jennings, who is playing with the Utica Blue Sox this summer, was named as a starter in the outfield for the West Division team.
Jennings has helped Utica to a 22-11 record and second-place in the West Division. He is hitting a team-high .327 in 27 games played and has 36 hits. Jennings has scored 21 runs and knocked in 11 more. He also has 14 stolen bases and seven extra-base hits.

Mitch Guilmette - Top Speed Baseball - Golden State Collegiate Baseball League
Guilmette and a strong CCSU contingent has helped Top Speed climb to No. 6 in the Collegiate Summer Baseball Top 35 Summer League rankings with a 26-1 mark in league play and 32-2 overall. He is hitting .361 through 26 games played and has six extra-base hits, including two homeruns. Guilmette has scored 20 runs and driven in 19 more runs.
Stanley Wolpiuk - Top Speed Baseball - Golden State Collegiate Baseball League
Wolpiuk has been a part of one of the top staffs in the GSCBL. Working out of the bullpen, Wolpiuk has thrown in six games, logging 7.0 innings and striking out 11 batters. He has one save and a 3.85 ERA.
Casey Brown - Top Speed Baseball - Golden State Collegiate Baseball League
Brown, who graduated from CCSU this spring, is currently leading the GSCBL in strikeouts (55) and wins (six), while ranking second in earned run average (1.42). He had a stretch of 23.0 consecutive scoreless innings spanning four outings earlier this summer and has won six of his eight outings this season.
Matt Martinez - Top Speed Baseball - Golden State Collegiate Baseball League
The recently graduated Martinez is one of the GSCBL's top hitters. He leads the league in homeruns (10) and is tied for third in average (.379) and fourth in runs batted in (28). In 35 games played he has scored he has scored 28 runs, has 17 extra-base hits and has stolen four bases.
Dean Lockery - Ocean State Waves - NECBL
Lockery has helped Ocean State to first-place in the Southern Division with an 16-9 record and a No. 18 ranking in the Collegiate Summer Baseball Top 35 Summer League Team rankings. Lockery leads the team with nine stolen bases and ranks second with 13 runs scored. He has collected 21 hits, including a homerun, and has six runs batted in and is hitting .253 on the season.
Ryan Costello - Keene Swamp Bats - NECBL
Costello has helped Keene to a 13-12 record and third-place in the Northern Division. Costello has played in 23 games and driven in eight runs, while scoring six. He has a homerun and three stolen bases, while collecting 18 hits overall.
Michael Pastore - Keene Swamp Bats - NECBL
Pastore, who graduated this spring, has made five appearances out of the bullpen for the Swamp Bats. In 13.0 innings of work he has struck out nine and has a 3.46 earned run average.
Andrew Hinckley - Edenton Steamers - Coastal Plain League
Hinckley, one of the top two-way players in the NCAA last season, has slotted into the Steamers' rotation and lineup. Hinckley has helped Edenton to a 16-18 record. In six outings, including five starts, he has a 1-1 record with 31 strikeouts in 22.2 innings. He has limited opposing batters to a .258 batting average and issued just 11 walks. At the plate, he has hit .267 with two homeruns and six runs batted in.
Nick Plachno - Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs - Perfect Game
Plachno has helped the Diamond Dawgs to a 16-14 record. Throwing out of the bullpen he has appeared in a team-high 12 games logging 9.2 innings of work with a 3.72 earned run average. He has logged two saves and has 12 strikeouts. He has also logged 19 at bats with four hits and two runs driven in.
Mike Appel - Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs - Perfect Game
Appel thrown 31.1 innings across six starts for Mohawk Valley. He has posted a 2-2 record along with 26 strikeouts. He has a 4.30 earned run average on the season and has allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last three outings.

Nick Garland - Danville Dans - Prospects League
Garland joined the Dans and has played in nine games thus far. He has recorded eight hits and has one homerun with six runs batted in. Garland also played in 13 games for the Jamestown Jammers. He collected nine hits with four runs batted in and three runs scored.
Jared Gallagher - Bristol Blues - Futures League
Gallagher has helped the Blues to second-place position in the West Division with a 16-17 record. He joined the squad midseason and has made three starts in four outings. He owns a 1-2 record, but has a 1.89 ERA in 19.0 innings of work. He has struck out 18 and walked just one. He allowed just one earned run over his first three outings.
Brandon Fox - Bristol Blues - Futures League
Fox made four starts and went 2-2 across 19.0 innings of work. He accumulated nine strikeouts and won his first two starts of the season, allowing just one run in each.

J.P. Sportman is playing with the Midland RockHounds, the Double-A affiliate for the Oakland A's. He's hitting .271 on the season and is among the team leaders with 43 runs scored and 33 RBI to go with three homeruns and 11 stolen bases. He has two or more hits in four straight games and is hitting .406 with six RBI in his last seven games.
Nick Neumann has pitched for the Bradenton Marauders in the Pittsburgh Pirates' organization. After compiling 17 saves a season ago, he has continued to throw well with a 1-0 record and six saves with a 2.70 ERA in 27 games pitched. In 40.0 innings of work he has collected 33 strikeouts against just nine walks.
Connor Fitzsimons became the latest Blue Devil to join the professional ranks when he signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Fitzsimons is playing with the rookie level Arizona League Angels, appearing in three games thus far. He has a run scored and has also thrown out one runner on a stolen base attempt.
Evan Scribner, who has thrown in the majors since 2011, spent 2015 with the Oakland A's and appeared in a career-high 54 games. He was traded to the Seattle Mariners in the offseason, but has been injured and not yet made his debut for the team in 2016.
