Cafferky, Halligan Honored to the NEWISA All-New England Teams
Jennifer Cafferky claimed the most votes of any All-New England First Team defender.
Jennifer Cafferky was awarded her fourth postseason honor of the 2017 women's soccer season on Thursday, Dec. 14 after being selected to the NEWISA All-New England First Team. The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association announced that Cafferky earned the most votes of any defender on the 11-player first team roster. Central Connecticut midfielder, Kelly Halligan, was chosen to the All-New England Second Team.
Four-time Northeast Conference Defender of the Year, Cafferky gathered her second All-New England First Team nod of her career. The ECAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-East Region Second Team pick, also worked her way to the All-NEWISA First Team in 2014.
Cafferky was the first student-athlete in NEC history to have been named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year for four seasons. The Boras, Sweden native carried the Central defense that completed six consecutive shutouts against NEC opponents and surrendered a mere two goals through all eight conference matches, setting a new CCSU program record.
Halligan takes her first All-New England honor after leading the team with four assists and adding two goals in her fifth season with the Blue Devils. The Lymm, England product was also named to the All-NEC First Team for the second straight season on Nov. 2. Halligan started in 58 of her 74 matches played at Central.
