Season
Budrick, Mussatti and Knowles Receive Conference Awards

Senior Sara Budrick, junior Katherine Knowles and sophomore Rebecca Mussatti received post season Northeast Conference #$%^softball accolades on Thursday. Budrick earned the first annual NEC Most Improved Player award as voted on by the league's #$%^coaches and added a second team all-conference honor. Mussatti received first team honors, while Knowles was named to #$%^the All-NEC Second Team.

Budrick Homers as Softball Drops a Doubleheader to Finish Season

Central Connecticut dropped its final two games of the season to the Blackbirds of Long Island University. Long Island improved to 34-16 on the season #$%^and 17-3 in the Northeast Conference with the pair of victories and clinched first place for the NEC tournament. Central Connecticut finishes their #$%^season with a 19-31 record on the season and a 7-13 record in the NEC. With the 19 victories on the season Central Connecticut has surpassed the #$%^2007 Blue Devils for the most single season victories since joining the Northeast Conference.

Softball Drops Two Games at FDU

Central Connecticut softball dropped its final two road games of the year at Fairleigh Dickinson to fall to 19-29 on the season and 7-11 in the Northeast #$%^Conference. Fairleigh Dickinson improves to 16-30 overall and 6-12 in the Northeast Conference with the two victories. Senior Jaclyn Logan hit two #$%^home runs for five RBI on the afternoon and is now tied for the teams season lead with 10 home runs on the season.

Softball Splits Doubleheader with Quinnipiac

Central Connecticut moves to 19-27 on the season and 7-9 in the Northeast Conference after splitting a doubleheader with Quinnipiac. Quinnipiac #$%^moves to 24-22 on the season and 11-5 in the Northeast Conference. Central Connecticut was led at the plate by junior Katherine Knowles who went #$%^two for three and hit two home runs in the game one victory. Central Connecticut's Elizabeth Montemurro pitched a complete game six hitter allowing no #$%^earned runs in the game one victory.

Softball Takes Doubleheader at Hartford

Central Connecticut took advantage of six home runs to take both ends of a doubleheader from Hartford. Central Connecticut would only need five #$%^innings in the first game of the pair to beat the Hawks by a score of 10-1. The Hawks never led in the second half of the doubleheader but made for #$%^the #$%^game in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring three runs. The late inning rally however would not be enough to top Central making the final score #$%^7-6 #$%^in the Blue Devils favor. The Blue Devils improve to 18-26 on the season while the Hawks of Hartford fall to 15-18 on the year. Senior Jaclyn Logan #$%^led #$%^the Blue Devils with three home runs on the afternoon driving in eight runs.

Barlow is Awarded Akadema/NEC Rookie of the Week

Freshman Kelsey Barlow was named Northeast Conference softball rookie of the week for her performance against the Crusaders of Holy Cross and #$%^the Hawks of Monmouth last week. The award marks Barlow's first rookie of the week honor and she joins teammate freshman Macy Stefanski as the #$%^only two players to garner NEC softball rookie of the week honors for Central Connecticut since joining the Northeast Conference. Stefanski took #$%^home NEC player and rookie of the week as well as ECAC player of the week earlier this season.

Softball Drops Both Ends of Doubleheader with Monmouth

Central Connecticut falls to 16-26 on the season and 6-8 in the Northeast Conference after dropping both ends of the doubleheader to Monmouth. Monmouth advances to 22-14 and 11-4 in the NEC with the two victories. Central Connecticut was led at the plate by freshman Kelsey Barlow who went 3-5 with a home run for the Blue Devils.

Softball Splits Doubleheader at Robert Morris

Central Connecticut softball moves to 15-25 on the season and 6-6 in the Northeast Conference after splitting a doubleheader with Robert Morris. #$%^Robert Morris moves to 19-15 on the season and 9-4 in the Northeast Conference with the split. Central Connecticut was led by junior Katherine #$%^Knowles who went 4-8 on the day with a home run and two doubles with four RBI. Senior Sara Budrick also added a two home runs and four RBI on the #$%^afternoon for the Blue Devils.

Softball Gets Split on the Road at St. Francis (PA) on Saturday

Central Connecticut improves to 14-22 on the season and 5-5 in the Northeast Conference after splitting a doubleheader with St.Francis (PA) on Saturday. The Red Flash move to 10-29 on the season and 2-10 in the NEC after the split. Senior Jaclyn Logan went 3-5 with four RBI on the afternoon. Sophomore Abby Harpp took the win for the Blue Devils in game two allowing three earned runs while striking out three Red Flash batters.

Softball Team Drops 4-2 Home Decision to Iona on Wednesday

Senior Sara Budrick drove in a pair of runs but the Central Connecticut softball team dropped a 4-2 decision to Iona at home on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss the Blue Devils drop to 13-21 with the loss. Iona improves to 16-14 on the season with the victory. Central returns to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Francis (PA).

Softball Takes Doubleheader at Bryant

Central Connecticut took two games at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI to improve to 13-20 on the season and 4-4 in the Northeast Conference while #$%^Bryant falls to 3-26 on the season and 0-8 in the Northeast Conference. Central Connecticut was led by senior Jaclyn Logan who was six for nine on #$%^the afternoon from the plate with seven RBI and a double for the Blue Devils and junior Elizabeth Montemurro pitched nine innings in a start and a relief #$%^appearance and won both games on the afternoon for the Blue Devils. Montemurro was able to strikeout seven and did not walk a batter in her game #$%^one start.

Softball Falls at Boston College

Central Connecticut falls to 11-20 on the season with the 8-0 loss in Chestnut Hill, MA. Boston College improves to 10-18 on the season with the victory #$%^in five innings. Central Connecticut was led by junior Katherine Knowles who had the Blue Devils only two hits on the game with a double to increase her #$%^season total to 14 and is good for the team lead.

Softball Splits Doubleheader against Siena in New Britain

The Central Connecticut softball team is now 11-19 on the season after splitting a non-conference doubleheader Monday with #$%^Siena, who moves to 4-23 on the season. The Blue Devils were led by sophomore leadoff batter Rebecca Mussatti, who went #$%^3-6 on the afternoon with a triple and a pair of singles. Mussatti also drew a walk and scored a run for the Blue Devils during #$%^the two contests. Junior Elizabeth Montemurro went the distance for Central in the victory allowing only four earned runs for #$%^her sixth victory on the season.

Softball Splits Doubleheader with Manhattan in New Britain

Central Connecticut split a non-conference doubleheader with Manhattan College in New Britain. Central Connecticut moves to 10-19 on the season and Manhattan moves to 8-8 with the split. The Blue Devils were lead by outstanding pitching performances by starters junior Liz Montemurro who went the distance in game one for the win and allowed only one earned run. Sophomore Abby Harpp pitched 11 innings in the loss in game two for Central striking out 10 and allowing only four earned runs.

Softball Drops a Doubleheader at Sacred Heart

Central Connecticut dropped a doubleheader on the road at Sacred Heart Friday. Central Connecticut falls to 9-17 on the season and 2-4 in the Northeast Conference. Sacred Heart improves to 11-14 on the season and 2-2 in the Northeast Conference. The Blue Devils were led by junior Katherine Knowles who had two hits on the afternoon including a double.

Softball Announces Two Schedule Changes for This Week

The Central Connecticut softball team will be hosting Connecticut on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. for a non-conference tilt. This game was originally scheduled to be played in Storrs, but due to the poor weather conditions it has been moved to CCSU's brand new #$%^softball field in New Britain. The Blue Devils will also host Manhattan at 11 a.m. on Saturday in New Britain. That doubleheader was originally scheduled to be on the road.
