Men's Soccer Draws With LIU in Conference Opener
Austin Rocke scored for the second straight game for CCSU.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with LIU on Sunday in the Northeast Conference opener for both teams at CCSU Soccer Field. The two teams each scored within five minutes of each other in the opening 17 minutes.
The Blue Devils are off until they host Le Moyne next Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- The opening goal was set up with a cross into the area by Ben Assane Fall. The Blue Devils were unable to clear the ball and Ethan Holmer pounced on it and buried it for his first goal of the year at the 12:01 mark.
- The Blue Devils responded just 4:42 later, drawing a foul in the penalty area on an attack. Austin Rocke stepped up to take the penalty and buried his shot to the top right corner to make it 1-1.
- The second half was well-played with neither side able to find a goal. The Sharks had a pair of chances in the closing minutes. With just over two minutes to play, Stevan Milosevic had a shot at the near post that forced Daniel Wilmore to make a save and deflect the ball out of bounds. With under a minute remaining LIU's Andre Puente sent a shot wide of goal.

2 – Rocke converted his second penalty kick of the season and is 2-for-2.
NOTES
- Sunday's draw was the first in the series since a 0-0 tie on September 21, 2003.
- Rocke scored for the second straight game and for the third time in four games. He leads the team in scoring with seven points.
- Wilmore made four saves in the game.
- LIU outshot CCSU, 13-6.
