Men's Hoop Announces 2014-15 Schedule
Blue Devils open the season on Nov. 14 in Annual CT6 Classic
Head coach Howie Dickenman and the men's basketball team announced their 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday. The Blue Devils, who advanced to their 15th straight Northeast Conference Tournament a season ago, will open the season vs. Fairfield at the Annual Connecticut 6 Classic.
FULL 2014-15 MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
Dickenman is entering his 19th season at his alma mater and is the second longest tenured coach in school history. A year ago the Blue Devils finished 11-19 overall and 7-9 in NEC action, earning the seventh seed in the NEC Tournament.
The Blue Devils open the year on Friday, Nov. 14 vs. Fairfield in the CT6 Classic, this season being played at Quinnipiac University. They will then travel to Maryland on Nov. 17 to face the Terps in the first game of the NABC College Basketball Experience Tournament. Three more games in the NABC CBE Tournament will be played at Monmouth University. The first comes on Nov. 21 vs. Towson, followed by a match-up with Monmouth on Nov. 22 and finally a game vs. Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 23.
Central will then travel to East Carolina on Nov. 30 followed by a trip to Rider on Dec. 3, and a trip to Hartford on Dec. 6. The home-opener for the Blue Devils comes vs. UMBC on Dec. 10. Central will then host NJIT (Dec. 20) and Brown (Dec. 22) before breaking briefly for the holiday.
The Blue Devils will face defending National Champion Connecticut at the XL Center on Dec. 28 in the first meeting between the two schools since the 2002-03 season. A home game vs. Hofstra on New Year's Eve completes the non-conference portion of the schedule.
An 18-game NEC schedule begins on Jan. 3 with a home game vs. Fairleigh Dickinson, followed by road games at Sacred Heart (Jan. 5) and Mount St. Mary's (Jan. 8). Central will then play three straight at home vs. Robert Morris (Jan. 10), LIU Brooklyn (Jan. 15) and Bryant (Jan. 17).
Three of the next four games will be on the road, including St. Francis Brooklyn (Jan. 22), LIU Brooklyn (Jan. 29) and Wagner (Jan. 31) with a home game vs. Wagner on Jan. 24 also taking place in that stretch.
Two more home games vs. St. Francis Brooklyn (Feb. 5) and Mount St. Mary's (Feb. 7) will be followed by four of the last six games being played away from Detrick Gym.
The annual Western Pennsylvania trip will take place on Feb. 12 at St. Francis U followed by Feb. 14 at Robert Morris. The Blue Devils are then home vs. St. Francis U (Feb. 19) and Sacred Heart (Feb. 21) followed by a season-ending trip to Bryant (Feb. 26) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Feb. 28).
Season tickets for men's and women's basketball will be available in late-September.
