Clark Named NEC Defensive Player Of The Week
Clark had two interceptions in the win at Wagner on Saturday
Central Connecticut State's Kimal Clark was named the Northeast Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week on Monday following his performance at Wagner. He was joined on the NEC Prime Performer list by Matt Jenner.
Clark recorded two interceptions, equaling the most by a single player in an FCS game this season. His first interception came on the opening play of the second quarter, catching a tipped ball and returning it 20-yards. His second interception came in the middle of the third quarter, when Wagner was first and 10 on the Blue Devils six-yard line. The interceptions helped CCSU keep Wagner out of the end zone for the entire game, the second time this season that the defense has accomplished that.
Jenner led the Blue Devils offense to 17 first-half points and a 32:19 time of possession in earning the team's first league win of the year. He was 20-29 passing with 236 yards on Saturday, finding two Isiah Williams twice in the endzone.
The Blue Devils return to action on Thursday night, when they host LIU in a 7:00 pm game on CBS Sports Network.
