Ausanio Finishes 2nd at Valparaiso
The senior captain wrote in a two-round score of 157.
The Central Connecticut women's golf team placed second on the team leader board at the Valparaiso Crusader Invitational on Tuesday. The event's closing round was the second of two rounds, the first round was played on Monday, March 4th.
Champions Gate Golf Course in Orlando, FL played host to the three team event which was hosted by Valparaiso. SIU Edwardsville also competed in the event.
Central tallied a total stroke count of 665 (334/331/665) to finish second behind host Valparaiso University (333/318/651). The Blue Devils missed first place by just four strokes. SIU (341/332/673) shot eight strokes back of Central to place third.
Senior Anna Ausanio placed second on the individual leader board writing in an impressive 78 on her final day. She scored a 79 in round one, bringing her event total to 157. Ausanio was the only golfer in the tournament to break 80 in both rounds.
Freshman Sarah Boden (81/85/166) tied for fifth place with her lowest score coming on Monday, in her first round. Senior Katie Reid (87/81/168) broke the top-ten finishing seventh. Reid improved her first round score by six strokes in the second round of the tournament.
Sophomore Albrianna Farnum (87/87/174) wrote a consistent score card placing tied for 11th shooting 87 in both rounds. Junior Gina Grant (101/88/189) improved her score by an impressive 13 strokes on day two. Grant placed 16th.
The Blue Devils will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii next to compete in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course. The event, which will be hosted by the University of Hawaii, will be played March 12th through the 13th.
