Women's Golf Announces 2017 Class
Kaitlyn Stoddart and Ella Williams will join the Blue Devils fall 2013.
Central Connecticut head women's golf coach Carly Ludwig has announced the recruiting class of 2017. Two student-athletes will join the Blue Devils in the fall of 2013, Kaitlyn Stoddart and Ella Williams.
Ludwig said of the incoming freshman, "I am very excited to welcome Ella and Kaitlyn into the Blue Devil family. I feel like both Ella and Kaitlyn are going to be able to transition into college golf with ease. They are extremely talented players that have immense potential to propel the success of the CCSU Women's Golf team for the next four years."
Kaitlyn Stoddart - Shelburne, Ontario/Centre Dufferin District High School
During her time at Centre Dufferin, Stoddart earned MVP of varsity women's golf two consecutive years (2010-11, 2011-12). She claimed the District 4 Golf Championships in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and was also a champion at the CWOSSA Golf Championships in 2012. Placed third at the OFSAA Golf Championship in 2012 and second in the Pepsi-Titleist Junior Golf Tour in 2009, 2010, and 2011 for the juvenile girls golf division. Stoddart won the Pepsi-Titleist Junior Golf Tour in 2012 for the junior girls division, placed second individually and as a team at the Ontario Tour Team Championships in 2012, and made it to the quarterfinals of the Ontario Girls Match Play in 2012.
Stoddart on CCSU: "Central Connecticut State University offers experiences and opportunities that are rare to come across. Being a member of the women's golf team at CCSU is more than just going to the range every few days to hit balls. You are treated and trained as an elite athlete, with early morning workouts, hours spent at the course doing drills, and days spent on the road traveling to and from tournaments. But most importantly, I will be joining a family, spending the next four years of my life growing with my team. These are the years in which I will design my future, and I could not be more blessed than to be doing so at Central."
Ella Williams - Calgary, Alberta/Western Canada High School
A member of Glencoe Golf and Country Club, Williams won the club's Junior Club Championship in 2012. She earned first place finishes at the MJT British Columbia Series/Kelowna, BC and MJT Prodigy Series Calgary, AB. She tied for second place at the MJT Okanagan Junior Championship and finished in the top-five at the Calgary Junior Open Tournament.
Williams on CCSU: "I was impressed with Coach Carly (Ludwig) throughout the stages of my recruitment and everything CCSU has to offer academically. Overall it turned out to be a great fit for me and I am excited about my future as a Blue Devil."
The Blue Devils finished their 2012 fall campaign averaging over 324.1 strokes over seven rounds. Central placed seventh, third, tenth, and second in four fall tournaments.
