Bednar Places 5th at NY State Amateur
The senior carded a 231, 15-over par.
Central Connecticut senior Stephanie Bednar of the Blue Devil women's golf team competed in the New York State Women's Amateur Championship earlier this month. The three-round tournament took place from Tuesday, July 10th through Thursday, July 12th.
Bednar (80/77/74/231) finished 15-over par which placed her fifth on the final leader board. Her 231 total strokes for the tournament put her just 12 strokes off of the tournament's champion Ellen Oswald (75/72/72/219).
In the opening round of the tournament, Bednar carded an 80 penciling in two birdies and making par seven times on the day. The senior bounced back in the second round making par an impressive 13 holes, carding a 77 which was a three stroke improvement from the previous round. On the final day Bednar shot her best 18-hole score of the tournament writing in a 74, improving another three strokes. She marked down an impressive 5 birdies and made par on 9 holes.
