Softball Opens Season Friday at ASU

The Central Connecticut softball team opens the 2012 season at #4 Arizona State on Friday night. The Blue Devils will play a four game series against the Sun Devils (10-2, 0-0 PAC-12) this weekend. Friday and Sunday will be single games with a doubleheader Scheduled for Saturday night.
The 2011 Blue Devils set a program record for wins with 29 and also reached the Northeast Conference Tournament for the first time. Arizona State captured the 2011 NCAA Championship and entered 2012 with a preseason #1 ranking.
The Blue Devils return seven starters from last season, including sophomore Arielle Brunowho earned All-NEC honors as a freshman. Bruno led the NEC in hits during the regular season with 60, she was also Central's leader in batting average at .339.
First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 9 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday will be an afternoon game beginning at 2 p.m.
