Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at NEC Championship
The Central Connecticut men's golf team finished fourth at the Northeast Conference Championship with a team score of 915 strokes. The Blue Devils improved in each round of the tournament by shooting a 304 on Sunday. Senior Eric Hawerchuck was the top Blue Devil finisher on the 6,937 yard, par-72 Champions Gate Golf Course in Orlando, Florida. Hawerchuk improved every round and finished with a team-best round of 69 on Sunday to tie for 10th.

Hawerchuk opened the tournament with a 79, but cut his second round score to 76 and then had an unbelievable final round 69. He posted 224 strokes for the three rounds to earn his share of 10th.
Senior Justin Hughes finished 12th he posted a 225 stroke score for the tournament. Hughes shot rounds of 75, 71, and 79. Freshman Daniel Morgan finished tied for 16th in his first NEC Tournament. He posted rounds of 76, 77, and 78 to finish with 231 strokes.
The final two Blue Devil golfers were junior Kevin Josephson and sophomore Dan Fanion. Josephson finished tied for 38th with a score of 241. He shot rounds of 76, 83, and 82. Fanion finished 42nd after rounds of 84, 81, and 78, he shot a 243 for the tournament.
Sacred Heart took the team honors, with Robert Morris and Mount St. Mary's finishing second and third. The Pioneers shot a team score of 888. They won the tournament by 22 strokes. C.G. Mercatoris of Robert Morris took the individual honors with a 215 stroke total.
