Men's Golf Tied for Sixth After Day One
The Central Connecticut men's golf team finished day one of the C & F Bank Intercollegiate Invitational in a three way tie for sixth place with a total of 294 strokes. The Blue Devils were led by freshman Daniel Morgan who is currently tied for fourth place. Morgan shot a two-under 70 on the 6,659 yard par-72 course. The event hosted by the College of William and Mary.

Morgan opened his day with 34 strokes on the front nine. He followed that with a 36 on the back half to finish with his 70. He is currently tied for fourth place with Mike Smith of James Madison and Tyler Comer of USC Upstate.
Just missing par were junior Kevin Josephson and senior Eric Hawerchuk. Josephson shot a 36 on the front and a 37 on the back nine to finish with a one-over 73. Hawerchuk shot a two-over 74, after posting 37s on both the front and back nine. Josephson is currently tied for 22nd and Hawerchuk is tied for 34th.
Senior Justin Hughes and sophomore Dan Fanion both shot a first round 77 to finish tied for 61st. Hughes shot a 38 on the front half and a 39 on the back, while Fanion shot a 37 on the front and a 40 on the second half.
Chris Wellde of James Madison shot a five-under 67 in the first round to put his team in lead. James Madison has a six stroke advantage over UNC Greensboro, but both squads have three golfers in the top ten of the individual results.
The final round of the C & F Bank Intercollegiate Invitational will be played today.
