Here are some notes on the Blue Devils heading into the spring:
Quarterback Competition – Senior Andrew Clements, junior Nick SanGiacomo and junior Timothy Morovick (2013 Spring Enrollee) are all candidates for CCSU's quarterback position come the fall. Clements saw the bulk of the action in 2012, but SanGiacomo also earned significant playing time. Morovick transferred to the Blue Devils this semester after two seasons of junior college football in his home state of California.
Back Running – Sophomore Rob Hollomon was a huge part of the CCSU offense in 2012 and will be expected to continue that performance in 2013. In his first season with the Blue Devils, Hollomon rushed for 1,104 yards, the 12th 1,000-yard rushing season in program history. Hollomon was also explosive on returns and earned multiple weekly honors, both from the NEC and national organizations, for his all-purpose performances.
Returning Players – The Blue Devils will return 16 of 22 starters from the 2012 offensive and defensive units. Highlighting the offensive returners are Hollomon, tackle Taylor Fuller and receiver Denzell Jones. Fuller and Jones will be seniors next season and Hollomon a junior. On defense, middle linebacker Patrick Atkinson, cornerback Chris Linares and defensive end Josh Alaeze will be major contributors in 2013. Attkinson and Linares will be seniors and Alaeze a junior.
New Kicker – With the graduation of senior Juan Duque the Blue Devils will be looking for a new place kicker this spring. Duque was extremely consistent on field goals and extra points throughout his career.
