CCSU Represented at Governor's Cup
Five incoming football student-athletes participated in the 2012 Governor's Cup.
Five incoming football student-athletes participated in the Governor's Cup game, which features the top high school players from Connecticut facing off with the top players from Rhode Island. The all-star game was played Saturday afternoon at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
Connecticut won the game, 14-8, extending the Nutmeg State's winning streak to 10 consecutive years.
Incoming freshman Aaron Berardino (Windsor) was named Offensive Most Valuable Player for the Connecticut team. The wide receiver scored both of Connecticut's touchdowns in the game. He caught a 35-yard touchdown in the first quarter and scored on a 12-yard pass in the third.
Chandler Foster (Stamford), Brandon Birdsell (Bethel), Jamar Johnson (Bloomfield) and Austin Wezenski (Xavier) also participated in the game and will attend Central in the fall.
