Fox Sports Radio 1410 to Serve as "The Home of the Blue Devils"
Football and Men's Basketball will air on Fox Sports Radio 1410 for the next four years
The Central Connecticut State University Athletics Department and Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Hartford/New Haven announced today that Fox Sports Radio 1410 (WPOP) will serve as "The Home of the Blue Devils" for at least the next four seasons. Men's basketball games will air on WPOP for the 16th consecutive season, as well as ESPN Radio 1300 (WAVZ) in New Haven for the fifth consecutive year. In addition, all 11 Blue Devil football games in 2012 will air on WPOP. All football and men's basketball games will be streamed live on iHeart Radio.
"We are extremely excited to continue our relationship with WPOP, and to make Fox Sports Radio 1410 The Home of the Blue Devils," Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann said on Monday. "Partnering with Clear Channel in this endeavor is a home run for us. As a local team in New Britain it is important to have a presence on the airwaves in Connecticut, and this partnership affords us that opportunity. At the same time, being able to stream every one of our football and men's basketball games on iHeart Radio means that Blue Devil fans can log onto their computer or smart phone and listen to us anywhere in the world. It is an exciting day."
For the first time WPOP will air all 11 football games this fall for the Blue Devils. In the past only a select number of games could air because of a programming conflict with the New York Yankees. That conflict no longer exists. The football team opens its season on the road at Stony Brook on September 1, pregame will air at 5:45 p.m.
Long-time play-by-play announcer Bruce Biel will once again call all of the action for the Blue Devils during both the football and basketball seasons. Color analyst Marc Robbins returns for his ninth season calling the action and will also call both sports.
"We're excited about our continued partnership with Central Connecticut State University and to be the home of CCSU football and men's basketball for the next four years" Stephen Honeycomb, Vice President and Market Manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Hartford/New Haven said. "Fans, alumni and students will continue to hear their CCSU Blue Devils on Fox Sports Radio 1410 and iHeartRadio."
CCSU and Clear Channel will partner to brand Fox Sports Radio 1410 "The Home of the Blue Devils" beginning this week. Head Coaches Jeff McInerney and Howie Dickenman will have regular spots on the Paul Nanos Show on weekday mornings, as well as a presence on WUCS 97.9 ESPN Radio in Hartford.
