Hollomon Special Teams Player of the Week
Sophomore Rob Hollomon named NEC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Central Connecticut football sophomore Rob Hollomon was named Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Hollomon was responsible for 377 all-purpose yards in the Blue Devils' 37-31 loss to Robert Morris.
Hollomon earns the weekly honor on special teams largely because of his 96-yard kickoff return touchdown. The return was one of the longest ever by a Blue Devil and is the longest kickoff return by an NEC player in the last nine years. It is also just one yard shy of the NEC record for a kickoff return, 97-yards, which has been done twice.
Hollomon returned a total of two kickoffs for 112 yards and also gained a yard on his lone punt return attempt.
On offense, he ran for 208 yards and had 56 receiving yards. His big plays were not limited to special teams either as he broke runs of 73 and 43 yards and also had a 25 yard reception.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday when they host Saint Francis (PA) at Arute Field.
