National Signing Day 2013
The Central Connecticut football team announced the addition of 17 players for the 2013 season on National Signing Day.
The Central Connecticut football team announced the addition of 17 players for the 2013 season on National Signing Day. Six of the players have already enrolled in CCSU for the spring semester and 11 are current high school seniors that signed a National Letter of Intent today.
Information on each of the student-athletes can be found below.
At halftime of Thursday night's men's basketball game, head coach Jeff McInerney will recap the recruiting class with Bruce Biel and Marc Robins on Fox Sports Radio 1410. The basketball game will tip-off at 7 p.m.

SPRING ENROLLEES
Here is a list and some information on the new members of the CCSU football team who enrolled for the spring semester, are currently taking classes, and will participate in spring practice.
Timothy Morovick – 6-2/210 – QB – Hemet, CA/Mount San Jacinto College – Jr.
Morovick comes to New Britain following two seasons of football in junior college…Morovick holds his high school's career records for passing yards and passing touchdowns…Was a First Team All-Conference selection in high school and was his team's offensive MVP in 2008 and 2009…Also wrestled and played baseball in high school…Earned several honors as a baseball player.
Jevon Elmore – 5-10/175 – DB – New London, CT/United States Military Academy Prep – Fr.
Elmore played high school football for New London High School and was a Connecticut Class L All-State selection…He was also named Defensive MPV of the annual Connecticut/Rhode Island Governor's Cup game last spring…Earned three All-ECC and two All-Area selections in football…Was also an accomplished track athlete winning the Connecticut Class MM 100 meters…Originally committed to the United States Military Academy and attend USMA Prep in the Fall of 2012…Elmore on choosing CCSU: "I wanted to bring my talents back home."
Joseph Scelzo – 6-3/325 – DT – Staten Island, NY/Tottenville – Fr.
Scelzo played high school football at Tottenville on Staten Island in New York City…He was a First Team All-City and First Team All-Borough selection…Also earned Second Team All-State honors…Scelzo on choosing CCSU: "I heard good things about this program, and that made me very interested in going to CCSU."
Brenden Lytton – 5-10/198 – RB – Torrington, CT/Milford Academy – Fr.
Lytton played football at Milford Academy during the Fall of 2012 and prior to that he attended Torrington High School…While at Torrington, Lytton earned All-State honors in 2010 and 2011 for his performance on the football field…He also earned All-League honors in football both of those seasons…Scored a Connecticut State record nine touchdowns in a single-game…Also rushed for 430 yards in a single-game…All-State track athlete as well…Lytton on choosing CCSU: "I decided to come to CCSU because it has so much to offer me as a student and an athlete."
Paul Spada – 6-5/284 – OL – Rocky Hill, CT/Rocky Hill – Fr.
Spada played high school football at nearby Rocky Hill…He was an All-State selection in high school and earned a pair of All-Conference honors…Also earned Hartford Courant honorable mention and served as team captain for two seasons…An accomplished thrower for the Rocky Hill track and field squad…Spada on choosing CCSU: "When touring campus, I immediately felt comfortable and at home. I appreciated the new lecture halls and I thought the sports facilities were top notch. The staff made it clear that education was their utmost priority, which is important to me."
Patrick Miranda – 5-11/208 – LB – Pawtucket, RI/Jireh Prep (NC) – Fr.
A stand out high school student-athlete, Miranda earned All-Conference honors each season from his sophomore campaign to his senior year moving from third team as a sophomore to first team as a senior…He was also the voted the team's most valuable player as a senior...Was an All-League Academic Team selection as a senior…Voted the most inspirational player on the team…Served as team captain.

Grant played football at Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida for head coach Bob Head…Grant was named Most Outstanding Player on his team.
Kenny Thomas – 6-1/210 – LB – Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley – Fr.
Earned Small School All-State honors in high school and was a two-year All-Conference selection…Was a Maryland Crab Bowl All-Star and a Baltimore Touchdown Club All-Star and "Super 22" team member…Served as a team captain and received the Maryland Army National Guard Leadership Award. Thomas on choosing CCSU: "I chose CCSU because I feel as though I can further my education there and also take my football talents to the next level."
Jonah Dorsey – 6-5/285 – OT – Newington, CT/Xavier – Fr.
A native of Newington, Connecticut, Dorsey played his high school football at Xavier Prep…His play on the offensive line helped Xavier to a state title in 2012…Was an honorable mention by the Hartford Courant and received an invitation to the Governor's Cup…Dorsey on choosing CCSU: "I like the coaches, facilities and their tradition of excelling in their conference. I was also impressed with the academic support systems and the campus."
Keir Minor – 6-2/195 – SS – Newark, NJ/Barringer – Fr.
A Newark, New Jersey native, Minor played high school ball at Barringer…While there he earned First Team All-County honors on offense and defense…Minor on choosing CCSU: "The coaching staff, the players, the campus, everything makes me feel like I'm at home."
Darick Orange – 6-1/280 – DT – Hampton, CT/Windham RVT – Fr.
A Hampton, Connecticut native, Orange was a two-time All-State selection and two-time All-Conference selection at Windham RVT High School…He also earned All-Area honors…Was selected as the "Lineman of the Year" and received the "Unsung Hero" Award…Orange on choosing CCSU: "Every little boys dream is to play sports forever, and if you can play a Division I sport than you're considered to have "made it." Because of CCSU, I have "made it," dream fulfilled."
Xavier Jenkins – 6-0/165 – SS/WR – Easton, PA/Easton Area – Fr.
A native of Easton, Pennsylvania, Jenkins was a two-year captain of his varsity football team…He was also selected to the Express Area Times Second Team Defense…Jenkins on choosing CCSU: "I chose CCSU because from the time I stepped foot on the campus I felt at home, whether it was academically or athletically. I knew I could be successful and the welcome from the coaches just made me that much more secure my decision."
Lance Ormsby – 6-2/210 – DE – Windsor, CT/Windsor – Fr.
Ormsby a native of Windsor, Connecticut, played football at Windsor High School…While at Windsor he was an All-Conference selection…Ormsby on choosing CCSU: "I chose CCSU because I can receive a good education, along with a good campus and student life…After visiting the campus, I felt comfortable with the coaching staff and football team."

Fleeting a Windsor, Connecticut native was named All-State by the New Haven Register, Hartford Courant and the Connecticut High School Coaches Association as a senior…Earned All-Central Connecticut Conference honors in 2011 and 2012…Was his team's offensive most valuable player and most outstanding player…Also and All-Academic Team selection…Fleeting on choosing CCSU: "CCSU is a good fit for me…I am looking forward to coming in, working hard and competing. Elijah Thompson – 6-4/270 – DL – Austin, TX/James Bowie – Fr.
Thompson comes to CCSU from Austin, TX, where he earned All-District honors as a junior and senior…He was also named 15-5A District Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore…As a senior Thompson claimed Defensive Lineman of the Year honors…He also received the "Tom Landry Award"…As a high school wrestler he earned All-American honors…Thompson on choosing CCSU: "I chose CCSU because I strongly believed in the coaches, loved the campus atmosphere and wanted to compete on the Division I level and win a championship."
Lorenzo Herman - 6-0/200 - LB - Memphis, TN/Memphis Central - Fr.
Herman played high school football at Memphis Central for head coach Lynord Crutchfield…Was named to the 2012-13 All-District Team…Herman on choosing CCSU: "CCSU felt like my home away from home. The bond I made with the coaches, players and student body were strong as if I've known them for years! Go CCSU! GO Blue Devils!"
David Campbell - 5-10/180 - DB - Bloomfield, CT/Bloomfield - Fr.
Campbell played running back and defensive back at Bloomfield High School...He is also an accomplished sprinter for his school's track team.
