Football Honors Seniors at Annual Banquet
The Central Connecticut football team held its annual banquet in Alumni Hall on Sunday night.
Head football coach Jeff McInerney and the Central Connecticut football team met for the annual post-season banquet on Sunday, January 27, on the CCSU campus. McInerney and the Blue Devils honored the 12 graduating student-athletes who played their final collegiate games during the 2012 season. The event was held in Alumni Hall on the campus of CCSU.
The senior class leaves the Blue Devils with a pair of Northeast Conference Championships and the group was a part of two of the five eight-plus win campaigns in the program's history.
Central won NEC titles in 2009 and 2010, including the school's only outright title in 2009.
The event was highlighted by the words of CCSU football alumnus Joe Arnone ('59) who emceed the event and speeches from Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann and head fooball coach Jeff McInerney.
In his remarks, McInerney noted that the theme of the team's banquet has always been "past, present and future" and while thanking the seniors for their commitment to the program he emphasized the goal of improving, athletically and academically, each day and each season.
The event closed with Coach Mac presenting each graduating student-athlete with a framed CCSU jersey.
