Women's Cross Country Picked Second in NEC Preseason Poll
The women’s cross country team opens their season on Saturday, September 8, at the Bryant Invitational in Smithfield, RI.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team collected two first-place votes and was picked second in the 2018 Northeast Conference Coaches Preseason Poll announced Friday. The Blue Devils were one of two programs to collect first-place votes, along with the defending champion Sacred Heart which received eight.
Under head coach Eric Blake, the Blue Devils will be looking to collect their first league title since 1999. Leading the Central runners will be seniors Madeline Mondo and Dawn Hubbell along with sophomore Megan Brawner who was the top performer in the 15th Annual CCSU Mini Meet and received NEC Rookie of the Year honors last season.
The Pioneers of Sacred Heart collected eight first-place votes and predicted to finish first. Third, fourth, and fifth place in the poll was Saint Francis U, Bryant, and Mount St. Mary's. Taking sixth and seventh place was Robert Morris and Wagner. Fairleigh Dickinson was chosen to finish eighth and LIU Brooklyn ninth. The 10-team preseason poll was rounded out by St. Francis Brooklyn.
