Women's Cross Country Competes at NCAA Regional Championship
The Blue Devils finished 26th out of 35 teams.
Coming off a first place finish at the 2018 Northeast Conference Championships, women's cross country team finished 26th out of 35 of the Northeast's top-schools at the 2018 NCAA Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 9. The meet was hosted by the University of Buffalo at Audubon Gold COurse in Buffalo, NY. After a first place individual finish at the NEC Championships, sophomore Angie Rafter led the Blue Devils once again. Rafter broke the top-100 in 66th place out of field of 243 runners with a final 6K course time of 23:14.0.
Trailing Rafter and finishing within 15 seconds of each other was sophomore Megan Brawner and senior Dawn Hubbell. Brawner crossed the finish line at 24:00.0 in 124th place. Hubbell completed the race in 24:15.2 in 139th place.
The 2018 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year, Ashley Dana, was next in for the Blue Devils in 177th place with a time of 24:53.5. Sophomre Sabrina Chesters was less than a minute behind crossing the line at the 25:20.9 mark in 191st place.
Senior Morgan Ricci and sophomore Kailyn Accetura rounded out the seven Blue Devil runners. Ricci ran a 26:37.7 and Accetura finished at 28:58.8.
Central competes at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI.
