10th Annual Ray Crothers Memorial 5K Set for Saturday
The 10th Annual Ray Crothers Memorial 5K will take place Saturday prior to the CCSU cross country Ted Owen Invitational.
The 10th Annual Ray Crothers Memorial 5K Cross Country Race and Kids Mile Fun Run hosted by the CCSU Alumni, Track and Field Club and CCSU Athletic Department will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The event is in dedication to the legendary Blue Devil runner, Ray Crothers, who was a champion in three divisions at the Manchester Road Race.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the Blue Devils men's and women's cross country/track and field programs under the head coach Eric Blake.
RAY CROTHERS 5K/KIDS FUN RUN REGISTRATION
The Kids Mile Fun Run will start the day at 8:30 a.m. and is free of charge to children ages 12 and under. The Ray Crothers 5K run is slated for a 9:00 a.m. start and is $20 per participant. Runners can either register online at www.fasttracktiming.com or fill out the attached sign-up form to bring on race day. Pre-race registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. for both events. The fee for CCSU students with a valid ID is $5. Checks can be made payable to CCSU.
The Ray Crothers Race is also a USATF-CT 2018 Cross Country Grand Prix sanctioned event and MRR qualifier. T-shirts will be handed out to the first 100 online entries and a hospitality tent will also be available for all participants. New for this season is the Alumni or Club Team Challenge. Teams of combined three men + three women will compete for $250 in prize money. Prizes will also be awarded to the top three finishers in each age category.
All runners are encouraged to stick around after the race and cheer on the Central Connecticut men's and women's cross country teams in the 16th Annual Ted Owen Invitational. The women's race will start at 11:00 a.m. and the men's race is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m.
