Rafter Named NEC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Angie Rafter earns her first NEC honor of the season.
Sophomore Angie Rafter was named Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week for women's cross country, it was announced by league office Wednesday afternoon.
Rafter won the Ted Owen Invitational in dominating fashion for her first collegiate cross country gold medal. She completed the 5K course in 18:05.3 to defeat the field of 82 by over 27 seconds. The sophomore joined teammate Megan Brawner to go 1-2 for Central Connecticut as the Blue Devils took second place in a race that included NEC rivals Bryant, Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson.
Coming up for the Blue Devils on Saturday, Oct. 6, they will travel to Boston, MA to compete in the New England Championships.
