7th Annual Ray Crothers Memorial 5K This Saturday
The CCSU Athletics Department and CCSU Alumni XC, Track and Field Club are hosting the 7th Annual Ray Crothers Memorial 5K Cross Country Race and Kids Mile Fun Run this Saturday, September 26 at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT.
The CCSU Athletics Department and CCSU Alumni XC, Track and Field Club are hosting the 7th Annual Ray Crothers Memorial 5K Cross Country Race and Kids Mile Fun Run this Saturday, September 26 at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The 5K race is in honor of legendary Blue Devil runner, Ray Crothers, and all of his accomplishments and dedication to CCSU. Proceeds from the race will also directly benefit the Central men's and women's cross country/track and field programs under the direction of head coach Eric Blake.
SIGN UP FOR THE RAY CROTHERS 5K/KIDS FUN RUN
The Kids Mile Fun Run is schedule to kickoff at 8:30 a.m. and is free of charge to kids ages 12 and under. The Ray Crothers 5K Cross Country Race is slated for a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start and is $20 per participant. Runners can either register online at www.fasttracktiming.com or fill out the attached sign-up form and bring it on race day. Pre-race registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. for both races and all checks should be made payable to CCSU.
T-shirts will be given to the first 100 runners to sign-up online, a hospitality tent will be available for all participants and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age bracket. The Ray Crothers Race is also a USATF/CT 2015 Cross Country Grand Prix sanctioned event and MRR qualifier.
Participants are also encouraged to stick around after the race and cheer on the CCSU men's and women's cross country teams as they compete in the Ted Owen Invitational. The men's 8K race is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the women's 5K race at 11:45 a.m.
