Mendelson Wins CCSU Mini Meet on Friday, CCSU Women Fourth
Sophomore paces Blue Devils to fourth place finish
The Central Connecticut women's cross country finished fourth at the CCSU Mini Meet held at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain. Central sophomore Brittany Mendelson finished first out of 113 total runners in the meet to pace the Blue Devils. Central now prepares for the 2015 Northeast Conference Championship to be held at Bryant University next weekend.
Mendelson finished the 3k course in a time of 10:12 to claim the victory, narrowly holding off Monmouth's Jenn Cupp (10:14) at the finish. Mendelson led four CCSU runners in the top 50 in the race, as Central Connecticut finished fourth with a score of 153.
Yale won the team race with a score of 50, including three runners in the top seven. They were followed by Monmouth (51), Boston College (85), CCSU (153) and Boston University (160).
Senior Mara Lieberman was the second finisher for the Blue Devils, finishing in 13th place with a time of 10:33. Senior Ally Gates was 35th overall with a time of 10:55. Senior Jazmin Booker was 46th at 11:02 and freshman Madeline Mondo was the final scorer of the day for the Blue Devils with a time of 11:12, good for 58th place.
Junior Paxton McNierney finished in 93rd place with a time of 11:44.
