The Central Connecticut women's outdoor track and field team was picked to finish first over reigning champion Saint Francis in the preseason poll.
The Blue Devils earned six first-place votes from the league's head coaches, four more than the Red Flash, who were chosen as the runner-up. Sacred Heart received the final first-place vote and finished third in the poll. Rounding out the top five was Wagner in fourth and Stonehill in fifth. Merrimack, LIU, FDU, and Le Moyne finished the preseason ranks in that order.
The Blue Devils will host this year's NEC Championship in New Britain Connecticut for a two-day event that takes place on May 4-5.
KEY RETURNERS:
- 2024 NEC Indoor MVP Brooke Morabito returns after finishing first in both the 5000m and 10,000m at the 2023 outdoor meet.
- Senior Ashley Dana will look to repeat in both the 800m and 1500m, while junior Maegan Desmarais seeks back-to-back titles in the 3000m steeplechase.
- Sophomore Tamara Rawles returns as the lone sprinter who medaled last year for CCSU, finishing second in the 400m.
- Alissa Hurd took the gold medal in the high jump in this year's indoor meet. Hurd and senior triple jumper Aaliyah Walker hopes to make noise in the jumps, along with sophomore thrower Marina Perry who took gold in the shotput in this year's indoor meet.
