Incoming Swimmers Earn All-America Honors
Incoming freshmen Maddie Garber and Luna Milne received All-America honors from the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association.
Student-athletes Maddy Garber and Luna Milne, who will join the Central Connecticut swimming and diving program this fall, earned All-America honors from the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) last month.
Garber was named an All-America selection in the 100 yard breaststroke, while Milne was selected as an Academic All-America.
The top-100 performers in an event are named All-America under NISCA rules with an automatic qualifying time also being set for each event. Garber qualified for All-America in the 100 yard breaststroke by surpassing the automatic qualifying mark of 1:03.77. The Milford, Massachusetts native posted a time of 1:03.68, which ranked 68th nationally among high school student-athletes this year.
Milne, a Glastonbury, Connecticut native, earned Academic All-America honors by finishing the year with a grade point average above 3.75.
"These are great accomplishments for both Maddy and Luna," CCSU head coach Bill Ball said. "Any team would be thrilled to add student-athletes of such a high caliber to their program. Obviously, we are proud of their accomplishments and very excited they chose to join our program."
