Deiter Leads Three Blue Devils on All-NEC
Junior Nikola Deiter was named 2012 NEC Goalkeeper of the Year on Thursday.
Junior Nikola Deiter was named Northeast Conference women's soccer Goalkeeper of the Year on Thursday night at the NEC's annual pre-tournament banquet. Junior Allison Kelley and freshman Claire Walsh also earned recognition for their performances this season.
In addition to being the goalkeeper of the year, Deiter was also named to the All-NEC First Team. She posted an incredible 96 saves over 18 games this season. Deiter had five shutouts and allowed just 24 goals during the season, which works out to a 1.33 goals against average. Deiter's save total led the conference and her 5.33 saves/game tied for third in the NEC.
Kelley earns Second Team All-NEC honors following a season in which she scored one goal and assisted on three others. Kelley's three goals in 12 games tied her for sixth in the conference with .25 goals/game.
Walsh earns NEC All-Rookie accolades after a solid freshman campaign that saw her total three points on the season. She scored her first collegiate goal on September 9, against Connecticut and had her first assist on September 14, against Siena.
The Blue Devils finished the season with a 4-13-1 record and a 3-7-0 mark in NEC action.
