Women's Soccer Win Streak Stopped with 3-1 Loss at St. Francis (PA)
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team had its three-game winning streak stopped with a 3-1 setback on the road at St. Francis (PA) on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops Central to 7-8-1 overall and 3-3-1 in Northeast Conference action. The Red Flash are now 10-4-1 overall and 4-2 in league action.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team had its three-game
winning streak stopped with a 3-1 setback on the road at St.
Francis (PA) on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops Central to 7-8-1
overall and 3-3-1 in Northeast Conference action. The Red Flash
are now 10-4-1 overall and 4-2 in league action.
The team's played a scoreless first half, with the Red Flash
holding a 7-4 edge in shots, including a 2-1 advantage in shots on
goal. Central's freshman goalkeeper Nikola
Deiter had a pair of saves before the break to help keep the
game scoreless.
The Red Flash wasted no time in the second half, scoring just 22
seconds in to take a 1-0 lead. They would add a second goal less
than two minutes later to push the lead to 2-0 at 47:10.
The third goal for the home team came from just outside the box on
a free kick, and made it 3-0 at 60:18.
The lone goal of the game for the Blue Devils came at 74:59 when
senior Clio
Tregear took a pass from sophomore Cara
Cavallari and beat the St. Francis (PA) keeper to make it
3-1.
Deiter finished the match with five saves for the Blue Devils.
Lauren Fearer made a pair of saves for the Red Flash in the
win.
The Blue Devils will finish the regular season with three straight
home games, beginning Oct. 24 vs. Bryant.
