Women's Soccer Drops 3-2 Decision on the Road at Providence
Senior Beth Lloyd scored twice but the Central Connecticut women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision on the road at Providence on Friday afternoon. Lloyd converted her second penalty kick in as many games but the Blue Devils fall to 2-4 overall on the season with the loss. Central returns to action on Sunday at UConn beginning at 1 p.m.

afternoon. Lloyd converted her second penalty kick in as many
games but the Blue Devils fall to 2-4 overall on the season with
the loss. Central returns to action on Sunday at UConn beginning
at 1 p.m.
Lloyd gave the Blue Devils the early lead scoring just 6:59 into
the match. She took a feed from Nathalie
Nilsson and shot from the top left of the box over the keeper
for the score. Nilsson, the Northeast Conference Rookie of the
Week this week, has a team-best four assists on the season.
The Friars responded with one goal before halftime to tie the game
at 1-1 at the break. Alyssa Martino netted her third goal of the
season to tie the game at 29:18. Providence then scored the first
two goals after halftime to take a 3-1 lead. Jenna Roncarati and
Kate Delciampo gave the Friars the lead with 20 minutes to play in
the game.
Lloyd's second goal of the game, and fifth of the season, cut the
lead to 3-2. She scored on a penalty kick, her second of the
season, with under five minutes to play. The Blue Devils could not
tie the game in the final minutes and lost their second straight
match.
