
Lacrosse Earns Home Triumph Over Delaware State
The Blue Devils got seven points from Abbey Cannon in the win
The Central Connecticut State lacrosse team won for the second time in as many games, defeating Northeast Conference foe Delaware State 20-10 Saturday on Arute Field. The Blue Devils improve to 2-9 overall and 2-3 in NEC play, while the Hornets fall to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in league play.
The Blue Devils are back in action on April 12th when they host Wagner in NEC play. The game, set for 1:00 pm, is the regular season home finale for the Blue Devils and will be preceded by Senior Day.
KEY MOMENTS
- Kylee Payne go the scoring going, netting a pass from Abbey Cannon 3:50 into the game as the Blue Devils jumped out to a 5-0 lead when Alexa Efron scored with 4:29 to play in the first period
- London Downing found the back of the net 19 seconds later for the Hornets first tally
- The Blue Devils scored the next four goals, two from Katie Hurlbut, to push the advantage to 9-1 88 seconds into the second quarter
- Delaware State scored consecutive goals, 14 seconds apart, to make it 9-3 at the 12:54 mark of the second quarter

- The 20 goals scored are the most for the Blue Devils since March 10, 2017 and the 36 goals in a two-game span is the most since scoring 39 in a two-game stretch in 2011 versus Howard and Liberty
- Cannon led on the offensive side with seven points, netting her first hat trick as a Blue Devil
