Watkins, Putman Compete at UNF Twilight Meet Friday
Senior Jordan Watkins and junior Dashawn Putman of the Central Connecticut men's outdoor track and field team traveled to Jacksonville, FL on Friday to compete in the North Florida Twilight meet.
Senior Jordan Watkins and junior Dashawn Putman of the Central Connecticut men's outdoor track and field team traveled to Jacksonville, FL on Friday to compete in the North Florida Twilight meet. Watkins highlighted the meet for the Blue Devils, breaking the CCSU record in the 110 meter hurdles. The meet was held at Hodges Stadium on the campus of UNF.
Watkins competed in two events at the meet, the 110 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles. In the 110 meter hurdles, Watkins finished in the top-five with a respectable fourth place finish. The senior standout set the new school standard in the process, sprinting to a time of 14.36 to earn the result.
The Watertown product followed the record setting performance with a ninth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles. Watkins crossed the finish line with a time of 57.30 to pick up the top-ten finish.
Putman, a transfer from St. Peter's University, competed in the high jump for the Blue Devils at the UNF Twilight meet. The junior leaped his way to a fourth place finish in the event after he cleared 1.95 meters on his third attempt at the height.
The rest of the Blue Devils men's outdoor track and field team will be in action today at either the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell or the Minutemen Invitational at UMass-Amherst. Live results can be followed for the Bison Outdoor Classic here.
