Men's Track and Field Completes Larry Ellis Invitational
The Central Connecticut men's outdoor track and field team completed competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, NJ this weekend.
The Central Connecticut men's outdoor track and field team completed competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, NJ this weekend. The meet was hosted by Princeton University at the Weaver Track and Field Stadium over the past two days.
LARRY ELLIS INVITATIONAL RESULTS
The Blue Devils were led by Jeremy Willis on Friday night at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The sophomore recorded the highest finish of the day for CCSU with a 15th place finish in the javelin throw. He launched the javelin to 52.75 meters to earn the result.
Freshman Austin Trainor and sophomore Brendan Callahan followed with 30th and 46th place finishes in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Trainor finished with a time of 9:26.60 in his first collegiate steeplechase and Callahan came in at 10:06.40.
Junior Malcolm Connor earned a 78th place finish out of 97 competitors in the 800 meter run for CCSU. Connor crossed the finish line with a time of 1:55.34 to earn the finish.
Patrick Hubbell took 80th place in the 5,000 meter run on Friday. The senior standout turned in a time of 15:42.73.
Senior Jordan Watkins led the way for CCSU on Saturday, recording a fourth place overall finish in the 110 meter hurdles. Watkins qualified for the finals heat with a time of 14.92 in the preliminary round before bettering his time to 14.91 in the finals.
Sophomore Zach Andrews turned in a time of 49.62 in the 400 meter dash on Saturday. Andrews time earned him a 32nd place finish in the race.
In the 100 meter dash, Kendall Walker led the way for the Blue Devils. Walker sprinted to a season best time of 11.12 to record a 24th place finish out of 44 competitors.
Senior Ryan Budd led CCSU in the 400 meter hurdles with an 11th place overall finish. Budd finished with a time of 54.31 to set a new personal best mark and earn the result.
Central's 4x400 relay team recorded a 10th place finish at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday. The team of Budd, Connor, Andrews and senior Chris Savvidou combined to finish with a time of 3:20.44.
Junior Dashawn Putman led CCSU in the field at the meet. Putman recorded a seventh place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.94 meters on his first attempt. He followed that up with an eighth place finish in the triple jump, leaping to 13.51 meters on his third jump.
The Blue Devils will return to action next weekend at UMass-Amherst for the Pre-Conference Meet. They will then travel to Emmitsburg, MD for the Northeast Conference Championships on May 2 and 3.
