Fruster, Hunt Compete at NCAA East Prelims
Central Connecticut junior Jamal Fruster and senior Craig Hunt both competed at the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary in Jacksonville, FL on Thursday night. Fruster ran the 400 meters and Hunt the 10,000 meters, both won their respective events at the 2014 Northeast Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Fruster ran the 400 meters and Hunt the 10,000 meters, both won their respective events at the 2014 Northeast Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Fruster's time of 47.82 was the second fastest of his career. His personal best remains the 47.36 second performance that earned him the victory at the 2014 NEC Outdoor Championships.
Fruster finished 44th in the field of 48 elite sprinters, he did not qualify for tomorrow's quarterfinal round. James Harris of Florida State posted the day's fastest time, a 45.571, running in Heat #3.
Hunt finished 32nd out of the the field of 48 in the 10K, which was run with all 48 competitors in a single heat. Hunt posted a time of 31:13.75, but he did not qualify for the NCAA Championships. His mark was just 1:08.51 behind the 12th place finisher, the top-12 runners qualified for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, OR.
John Mascari of Indiana State posted the fastest time of the day with a 29:41.95.
Tomorrow, Blue Devil junior Brian Biekert will run the steeple chase and CCSU women's track and field student-athlete Ronea Saunders will compete in the high jump.
