Blue Devils Place Third at AIC
Aaron Radden won the 100m and 200m.
The Central Connecticut men's track & field team finished third at the AIC Yellow Jacket Invitational posting 105 team points. Central finished behind only UMASS Amherst who placed second (107) and meet champion Rhode Island (163.66).
The John G. Hoyt Track & Field Complex played host to the meet in Springfield, MA. AIC held the meet which fielded 11 teams.
Junior sprinter Aaron Radden won a pair of events on Saturday. He took gold in both the 100m and 200m with times of 10.79 and 21.19 respectively. Juniors Elijah Boles and Dan Hopper both finished third (11.23) and seventh (11.43) in the 100m respectively. Boles also placed sixth (22.53) in the 200m. Both of Boles' times were personal best marks. Hopper's 200m time was also a personal best time.
In the field, sophomore Leonardo Davidson placed seventh in the shot put with a 14.09 throw. Throwing the hammer a personal best 41.92m was sophomore Michael Ficorilli who also placed seventh. Both throwers gathered 2 points apiece. Senior Matt Berube won the triple jump (14.14) and placed third in the long jump with a distance of 6.44m.
A trio of Blue Devils placed third, fourth, and fifth in the 5,000m. It was freshman Brian Biekert (15:11.88), senior Anthony Gonsalves (15:12.72), and freshman Andrew Hill (15:13.37). Gonsalves' time marked a new personal best time for the senior. Junior Nick Lindblom came in sixth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.25, a new personal best.
The freshman duo of Patrick Hubbell and Andy Pullaro placed top-ten in the 1,500m coming in at fourth (3:58.91) and sixth (4:03.69) respectively.
Central's 4x400m relay team won the event with a time of 3:26.01 and the 4x100m relay team placed second (42.25).
