Fruster Earns Weekly NEC Honor
Freshman Jamal Fruster earns his first NEC Rookie of the Week honor.
Central Connecticut men's track & field's Jamal Fruster was recognized as this week's Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week. Fruster had an impressive showing on February 4th at the Giegengack Invitational running the 400m 49.47, good for second place.
In a final tune-up prior to his NEC Indoor championship debut, Fruster shaved nearly one full second off his 400-meter time at the Yale Giegengack Invitational. The first-year Blue Devil crossed the line in 49.47 to claim silver at Yale. The rookie quarter-miler became the fifth NEC athlete to log a sub-50 second time this season and heads into this weekend's conference title meet with the second-fastest 400-meter seed time.
