Saunders To Compete At 2014 NACAC U-23 Championships
Ronea Saunders is representing Central Connecticut State University and Team USA Track & Field at the 2014 NACAC U-23 Championships.
Ronea Saunders is representing Central Connecticut State University and Team USA Track & Field as one of seventy-nine U.S. athletes set to compete in the field of over 500 at the 2014 NACAC U-23 Championships.
It is a three-day event from Aug. 8-10, featuring 31 countries from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The event takes place in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada at Hillside Stadium on the campus of Thompson River University.
Saunders will be competeing in the high jump, which is scheduled for Thursday, August 8 at 6:30pm. She is one of two athletes representing USA in the high-jump.
Last season, Saunders set a new CCSU women's track and field record for the high jump by clearing 1.77 meters at the NCAA East Preliminary. Her jump was good for a tie for 17th place in the East Region. She qualified for that meet by being one of the top-48 collegiate performers in the Eastern United States during the Spring 2014 season.
Saunders also won the high jump at the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships in February and finished second at the outdoor meet in May.
