WTF Earns 13 All-NEC Selections
Junior Ronea Saunders earned a first team and second team selection.
The Northeast Conference has announced the all-conference selections for indoor and outdoor track and field. The Central Connecticut women's track and field program earned 13 All-NEC selections across the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Indoor
The Blue Devils earned eight all-conference nods during the indoor season with two first team selections, one second team and an impressive five all-rookie honors.
Junior high jumper Ronea Saunders claimed a First Team All-NEC honor after winning the event at the NEC Championship meet. The Blue Devils' first place DMR relay (Jazmin Booker, Melissa Wolliston, Taylor LePage, Brittany Mendelson) also claimed a first team nod for their victory.
Freshman Brittany Mendelson earned a Second Team All-NEC spot by finishing second in the mile. Mendelson also earned all-rookie honors for the event as the top freshman finisher.
CCSU's four other NEC All-Rookie honors went to Sherise Truman in the 60 meters, Melissa Wolliston in the 60 meter hurdles, Alleah Red in the 200 meters and Jazmin Booker in the 800 meters.
Outdoor
CCSU claimed five All-NEC spots at the outdoor championships, including a second team selection for Saunders.
Saunders earned a Second Team All-NEC selection at the outdoor meet by finishing second in the high jump.
The Blue Devils also had four NEC All-Rookie selections. Truman earned rookie honors in the 200 meters and Mendelson earned an all-rookie nod for the 1,500 meters. Wolliston claimed all-rookie honors in a pair of events as she was the top freshman in the 100 and 400 meter hurdles.
