Saunders Qualifies for USATF Championships
Junior Ronea Saunders will compete this weekend at the USATF Championships in Albuquerque, NM.
Junior Ronea Saunders of the Central Connecticut women's track and field team has qualified for the 2014 USA Track & Field (USATF) Championships this weekend, February 21-23, in Albuquerque, NM. The women's high jump is set to kick off on Sunday at 1 p.m. MST.

The USATF Championship meet features elite and professional athletes from across the country and also serves as the selection meet for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland in March. Saunders, who currently holds the CCSU indoor high jump record at 1.78 meters, is ranked tied for 29th in NCAA Division I this season.
The three-time 2013-14 NEC Field Athlete of the Week also won the high jump event at the 2014 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships earlier this month. She grabbed the NEC Individual Champion title for the second-consecutive season with her height of 1.73m.
Last weekend, Saunders cleared a height of 1.75m at the Scarlet & White Invitational hosted by Boston University.
