Blue Devils Take Sixth Place at NEC Championships
The Central Connecticut women's golf team finished competition at the Northeast Conference Championships on Sunday. The Blue Devils placed sixth out of 10 teams in competition at the Champions Gate Golf Club in Orland, FL. Freshman Anna Ausanio recorded the best final round score for CCSU, carding an 82 to finish the tournament in 13th with a total of 250 over the three rounds.

Freshman Anna Ausanio recorded the best final round score for CCSU, carding an 82 to finish the tournament in 13th with a total of 250 over the three rounds.
The Blue Devils finished the weekend championships 26 strokes ahead of Mount St. Mary's and Monmouth, who tied for seventh place. CCSU was only three strokes back of St. Francis PA for fifth. The Red Flash finished in 1022 to Central 1025 over the weekend.
Fairleigh Dickinson came back from a third place opening round to top Long Island for the NEC Championship. The Knights' score of 964 topped the Blackbirds by three strokes. Robert Morris and Sacred Heart rounded out the top four with scores of 975 and 977, respectively.
Long Island's Natalie Desjardins earned individual medalist honors for her three day total of 226. She shot rounds of 76, 74 and 76 to defeat FDU's Michele Holzwarth by two strokes.
Ausanio led CCSU with rounds of 78, 90 and 82 to place 13th overall. Fellow freshman Stephanie Bednar placed 16th with a three day total of 253. She put forth rounds of 86 and 81 before finishing the tournament in 86 on Sunday.
Senior Natalie Jones recorded the second lowest score for the Blue Devils in final round acion. She carded an 84 to give her a total of 258 at the championships. Jones placed 22nd, while junior Chelsea Woods placed 33rd. Woods shot 83 and 89 on Friday and Saturday and finished competition with a 92 today. Freshman Katie Reid rounded out the CCSU golfers, totaling 297 to place 47th in the tournament.
