Jones Leads CCSU to Win Over Fairfield on Saturday
Senior Natalie Jones led Central Connecticut State University to a win over Fairfield in the first of two Shootouts this weekend. The Blue Devils outshot the Stags 357 to 362 to secure victory, while Jones recorded a score of 84 on the par 71 course at the Wethersfield Country Club. On Sunday CCSU will challenge Hartford in a Shootout at Wethersfield CC beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The Blue Devils outshot the Stags 357 to 362 to secure victory, while Jones recorded a score of 84 on the par 71 course at the Wethersfield Country Club. Jones was the third overall finisher in the two team competition. Fairfield's Christiana DeStefano and Kristen MacDonald each finished in 82. DeStefano earned medalist honors after winning the tiebreaker. Jones tied both Stags with the best nine hole score of the day, tallying a 40 on the front nine.
Freshman Anna Ausanio and junior Chelsea Woods placed sixth and seventh with scores of 87 (44-43) and 89 (43-46), respectively. Freshmen Katie Reid and Stephanie Bednar rounded out the team participants for CCSU. The former tied for 12th with a round of 97 (45-52), while the latter took 14th carding a 99 (50-49). Sophomore Jennie Dyson and senior Lisa McCormick participated as individuals scoring 97 and 115, respectively.
The Blue Devils will host University of Hartford for a similar event on Sunday before gearing up for the Northeast Conference Championships in Orlando, FL April 23-25.
