Men's Soccer Trio Honored by NEC
Cordeiro Named NEC Rookie of the Year
A trio of Central Connecticut men's soccer players were honored by the Northeast Conference on Thursday night at the annual post-season awards dinner. Senior Keir Hannity, junior Zach Zurita and freshman Filosmar Cordeiro were all honored for their performance during the 2014 season.
Cordeiro made quite an impression for the Blue Devils and in the NEC in his first season in New Britain. For his efforts he was named the NEC Rookie of the Year. He finished second on the team in points with seven, while scoring a pair of goals and tying for the team lead with three assists. Cordeiro started 15 of 17 games played on the year.
Hannity was named First Team All-Conference after leading the Blue Devils in points (12), goals (5) and adding two assists. He started 14 of 16 games played on the season and finished second on the squad in shots on goal (14).
Zurita was third on the team in scoring and second in goals with three. He had six points on the year, and led the team in shots and shots on goal. In his two seasons with the Blue Devils Zurita has recorded nine goals and five assists, while starting 31 of 34 games played.
The Blue Devils finished the season 5-10-2 overall and 1-5-1 in NEC play.
