Taylor Scores as Men's Soccer Shuts Out Yale
Blue Devils now 3-2 overall on the season
Freshman Ryan Taylor scored his first career goal and senior Josef Abele posted his ninth career shutout as the Central Connecticut men's soccer won its second straight game, 1-0, over Yale on Sunday afternoon. With the win the Blue Devils are now 3-2 overall on the season. Yale falls to 0-4-1 with the loss.
The shutout is the second straight for the Blue Devils, who also topped UMass Lowell 1-0 on Tuesday night, also on the road. Abele made three saves in goal and now has two shutouts on the season.
Taylor's goal is his first in a Central Connecticut uniform. The freshman put the Blue Devils on the board just 1:08 into the second half. Central held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Bulldogs held a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks but were not able to solve Abele and the Blue Devil defense.
The game was the second of three straight on the road for the Blue Devils. They will also play on the road at Army on Tuesday night, before hosting Vermont on Sept. 28 on the CCSU Soccer Field.
